INTRODUCTION

●

　　Organized in 1992, China National Engineering Center for the Multipurpose Utilization of Nonmetallic Mineral Resources is a base for the scientific researches in the utilization of nonmetallic mineral resources, the deep processing of nonmetallic mineral resources and the development of new nonmetallic materials. It is also a link between industry and the technological achievements from the universities and research organizations both at home and abroad.

　　Up to now, the center has finished 119 research programs. Among them, some have won the First Award of China National Scientific and Technological Advance and the Golden Award of the Intellectual Right Organization of the United Nations.

　　Now the center has 113 staffs, among them, 45 persons have senior professional titles, 38 persons have middle professional titles, and the rests are supporting staffs. There are totally 788 items of equipment and instruments in the center, estimating the value of more than 13 million RMB yuan.

　　Due to the completion of the commercialization equipment, a variety of advanced precise analytic instruments, and innovatory technical experts in different disciplines, as well as the good working environment, the center passed the assessment sponsored by the National Acceptance Committee with excellent grade in comprehensive assessment in 1995. The center was approved and named officially by the National Scientific and Technological Committee in September 7, 1995. "The Advanced Unit in the Multipurpose Utilization of the Resources" was entitled to the center by the National Economic and Trade Committee in 1996.
